North America Tour 2026: Elder
Over the past few years, you may have come across the band Elder gracing my review column here at Concerthopper. Since first listening to Elder's second studio album, Dead Roots Stirring, in 2011, I have been intrigued by every new album the band has released. The evolution of Elder is quite remarkable in the genres of doom metal/stoner rock. Fresh off the release of their seventh and latest album, Through Zero, which was released on May 29, 2026, via Blues Funeral Recordings, Elder has returned to the States for a massive North American tour in support of their new album. And you must know I had to be there when they came through Atlanta and performed at The Masquerade! Joining Elder on this part of the North American tour is the North Carolina band Bask, and joining them on the second half of this North American tour is the band Blackwater Holylight.
Bask is a stoner rock/psychedelic rock/Americana/post-rock band from Asheville, North Carolina, who have been active since 2012. Bask has released three (3) LPs and is currently signed to the French label Season of Mist. Bask consists of Jesse Van Note (bass), Scott Middleton (drums), Zeb Camp (vocals/guitar), and Ray Worth (vocals/guitar). Bask has toured domestically and internationally with many incredible and familiar bands to Concerthopper, such as Pallbearer, High on Fire, Royal Thunder, Weedeater, Elder, and Black Tusk, to name a select few. Well, this would be my first time seeing Bask, and I was excited to get this first set from Bask under my belt.
Bask took the stage in Heaven at The Masquerade in downtown Atlanta to open the evening festivities. I remember when I first heard Bask’s debut album, American Hollow, not long after its 2014 release. I was amazed at the way Bask mixed heavy tones and riffs into one of my favorite genres of music, Americana. It was jaw-dropping, to say the least. Over the years, Bask has released some phenomenal albums like Ramble Beyond (2017) and their most recent release, The Turning (2025).
I was hoping to hear “High Mountain Pass,” “Mush! Carry Me Home,” “The Traveler,” “Unwound,” and “In the Heat of the Dying Sun.” Much to my surprise, the second song of their opening set was “In the Heat of the Dying Sun,” and it was just as glorious as I expected to hear live. Bask did play a good number of songs from their latest release, The Turning, like “Chasm,” “Dig My Heels,” “The Turning,” and closing out the set was my song, “The Traveler.” I hope Bask makes it back to Atlanta soon because I will be ready with my camera in hand to document that performance.

Elder is a four-piece doom metal/progressive/stoner rock band that consists of Jack Donovan (bass/backing vocals), Nick DiSalvo (vocals/lead guitar), Mike Risberg (guitar), and Georg Edert (drums). For this North America Tour 2026, Elder brought out a keyboardist for this tour, but I could not hear the name when Nick announced it to the crowd during the show. My apologies. And I could not locate his name online, so I will just have to update as information becomes available. Elder has released seven (7) LPs, seven (7) demos/singles/EPs, two (2) live LPs, and one (1) collaboration LP (with Kadavar).
Elder was founded in Massachusetts, but many of the band members now live in Germany and are signed to Stickman Records, a Hamburg-based label. I would also like to add that Nick DiSalvo has a side project entitled delving, and when they play live, Michael Risberg (also from Elder), Ingwer Boysen, and Uno Bruniusson join Nick in the fun. Elder took the stage at The Masquerade, and I knew the crowd in Heaven was ready for their return to Atlanta. I know I was eager to hear some of the new songs from Through Zero performed live. And I know I cannot be the only person who was excited to hear some of the new songs off Through Zero. I know I was thrilled when Elder started off their set with the first track from Through Zero, “Sigil to Run,” and a few songs later they played “Capture/Release.” Plus, we were treated to both tracks “Liminality” and “Dream State Return” back-to-back, as featured on the September 2025 EP release of the same name.
The vibe check across the venue was great, as I saw many people smiling and enjoying themselves as Elder seamlessly performed their North America Tour 2026 set at The Masquerade in Underground Atlanta. It is always great seeing Elder when they roll through Atlanta while on tour, and finally getting to see Elder play the Heaven stage at The Masquerade was a real treat for everyone.
