Take a Trip to the '80s with the Sonic Slam Tour, Featuring Tom Keifer, L.A. Guns, and Faster Pussycat

Music is a time machine. That one song can take you back to that high school dance, to that college club show, to that first concert that made you love music. If you're a member of Generation X, it's likely that '80s metal is part of your own musical time machine. If so, you'll want to step into Nashville's Marathon Music Works on Jul. 29 and back in time for the Sonic Slam Tour featuring the Tom Keifer Band, L.A. Guns, and Faster Pussycat.

If Tom Keifer is a name that isn't familiar to you as a fan of '80s metal, that's because he was the front man of one that almost certainly is Cinderella. While lumped into the “hair metal” genre of the decade, Cinderella was always a band that took things more seriously than the “sex and parties” bands of true hair metal. With hits like “Shake Me”, “Gypsy Road”, and “Nobody's Fool”, Cinderella brought a bluesy core to their glam metal exterior. While not touring with Cinderella any longer, Keifer's current band is not only more than up to playing Cinderella's hits but also Keifer's more bluesy current material. With Keifer living in Nashville now, this is a hometown show so expect him to pull out all the stops to impress a home crowd.

Joining Keifer is L.A. Guns. Known for hits like “The Ballad of Jayne” and “Electric Gypsy”, L.A. Guns have had a contentious last few years, with two different bands using the name at one time. Now core members vocalist Phil Lewis and guitarist Traci Gunns have reunited for an L.A. Guns fans will recognize from their youth. L.A. Guns are part of the sleaze metal movement of the Sunset Strip that birthed groups like Guns 'N Roses (who Traci Gunns played with before Appetite for Destruction).

Rounding out the trio is Faster Pussycat. The only pure glam metal act among the lineup, Faster Pussycat found hits in songs like “House of Pain.” With classic vocalist Taime Downey, Faster Pussycat brings the glam metal that fans expect from their nostalgic concert experience.
