Rituals of Hate Tour featuring Whitechapel, Bodysnatcher, AngelMaker & Disembodied Tyrant 11.19.2025
It's been a quiet stretch for shows in Rochester lately, but the silence is about to be shattered! Whitechapel brought the Rituals of Hate Tour to Rochester, and they are definitely not coming alone. Prepare for an intensely heavy and unforgiving night featuring the brutal forces of Bodysnatcher, AngelMaker & Disembodied Tyrant. Whitechapel is going to perform the entirety of their latest album, Hymns in Dissonance, along with other fan favorites. When I arrived at Anthology, the line to get into the venue was around the block, with fans waiting for hours to mosh and headbang to this heavy-hitting lineup. If you missed out, don’t worry. There are 20 more tour dates to catch.
Disembodied Tyrant kicked off the night, setting the tone as the first act. This quartet hails from Missouri and features Blake Mullens (Vocals), Dominic Petrocelli (Guitar/Backup Vocals), Lucas Koughan (Bass), and Kevin Alexander (Drums). Unfortunately, due to a freak accident, Blake Mullens was unable to attend. However, the show must go on: Trevor Teichert (Winter's Gate) and Ryan Vail (Synestia) stepped in to fill his spot, allowing Blake time to heal before their next tour in March. We got to see vocals from Trevor Teichert. The band opened their set with their latest single, “8.6 BLACKOUT.” Throughout their performance, they played five songs; unfortunately, I did not catch the names of the songs. But Johnny Ciardullo came out to perform alongside the band, like his Instagram handle, Johnny does have growls, and it got the fans even more excited for AngelMaker’s set. Closing the night with their top Spotify track, “Death Empress.”
The crowd is pumped, and AngelMaker takes the stage, driving the crowd to new heights in the mosh pit. Hailing from North Vancouver, British Columbia, AngelMaker is a Canadian deathcore band formed in 2011. The lineup features seven members: vocalists Casey Tyson–Pearce and Ian Bearer; guitarists Colton Bennett, Johnny Ciardullo, and Matt Perrin; bassist Cole Rideout; and drummer Steven Sanchez. Since their inception, they've released five albums, including an instrumental edition of their self-titled record, AngelMaker. Just a few days into the tour, AngelMaker released a new album called This Used to Be Heaven. They played a new song called “Silken Hands” from the album. You could feel the energy in the room get more intense as the band played. Rochester and other fans from the surrounding areas came to have a good night. Crowd Surfers came over the barricades one after the next. They closed out their set with “Leech.” This is a fan favorite that has racked up over 14 million plays on Spotify. During this song, almost the entire venue was screaming the lyrics back to the band. One of the singer’s Casey, jumped off the stage onto the barricade to scream with the fans in the front row.
Bodysnatcher is next up on stage. Here’s a little-known fact: the band’s name was inspired by Ed Gein, hinting at the dark edge of their music. Renowned for crushing breakdowns and scorching riffs, Bodysnatcher released their debut EP, Abandonment, in 2015. Since then, they’ve built momentum with three studio albums: Death of Me (2017), This Heavy Void (2019), and Bleed-Abide (2022). In 2024, they returned with a second EP, Vile Conduct. The lineup features Kyle Medina (vocals), Kyle Carter (guitar), Kyle Shope (bass), and Chris Whited (drums). When Bodysnatcher stepped foot on stage, the fans got more intense, with more crowd surfers flying over the barricade. Singer Kyle Medina begged for more people to come over the barricades, and that there weren’t enough crowd surfers. The band wanted everyone in the room off their feet. At one point, the band wanted to see 3 mosh pits. The crowd gave the band what they asked for, and part of the barricade shifted due to the number of people moshing. It was crazy in a good way. One of the memorable moments from the night was hearing that singer Kyle Medina was introduced to a band, which happened to be Whitechapel, and that they were one of the first bands he got to see when he was a teenager, and now he was grateful to be touring with them many years later. Bodysnatcher played 11 songs total during the set and graced the crowd with a new song called “Blade Between the Teeth,” and they ended the night with their song called “King of the Rats.”
Whitechapel storms the stage to a wild crowd, everyone eager to hear Hymns in Dissonance performed in full. They kicked off with “Prisoner 666”—if you’re a fan, don’t miss their new music video released on November 6th, check it out here. Since 2006, Whitechapel has been a force in the music scene, taking its name from the infamous Whitechapel district in east London, where Jack the Ripper committed his notorious crimes. When Whitechapel was getting ready to hop on stage, the crew was setting up props with skull heads, candles, and more to set the scene that matched “Prisoner 666.” I was chatting with a couple of fans who were anxiously waiting for them to come on stage. The room got dark, and you could see the band members slowly making their way to their positions on stage. Then, when singer Phil Bozeman came out, the crowd roared when they went immediately into playing new songs from Hymns in Dissonance. For the encore, the band delivered four more songs spanning back to 2007: “The Somatic Defilement,” “Devirgination Studies,” “The Darkest Day of Man,” and closed the night with “This Is Exile,” which got the fans even more pumped to hear some older songs. I’m glad I had the opportunity to see Whitechapel again after 8 long years.
