Uncle Acid & the deadbeats North America 22: Live at The Masquerade!

Forming as a band back in 2009, Uncle Acid & the deadbeats has released five (5) LPs with Wasteland being their latest from 2018. This Cambridge, England doom metal/occult rock/heavy metal/psychedelic rock quartet consists of Kevin (K.R.) Starrs (lead vocals/lead guitar/organ), Vaughn Stokes (rhythm guitar/backing vocals), Jon Rice (drums), and Justin Smith (bass). If you have followed my column over the years, then you know that Uncle Acid has made an appearance or two. Their musical homage to the early years of heavy metal music plus adding in their penchant for classic horror films and the occult… we you had me hooked from the first listen, sir. Ever since I heard the single, “I’ll Cut You Down” from their second album Blood Lust, I knew that this band was going to be something special. Fast forward to their current tour: North America 22 with King Buffalo as their opening support, nothing has changed because Uncle Acid & the deadbeats will put on a helluva show everytime! King Buffalo is a psychedelic/heavy blues/stoner rock trio from Rochester, N.Y. that formed as a band back in 2013. They have released six (6) LPs (two of which are live recordings) and five (5) singles & EPs. Most of their discography (four LPs and three singles & EPs) have been released independently by the band. The band consists of Dan Reynolds (bass/keyboards), Scott Donaldson (drummer/vocals), and Sean McVay (lead guitar/lead vocals). This would be my first time catching them live and I have to say that they have a new fan. Their complex blend of blues, psychedelic, and stoner rock is good for the soul! This guy walked out with three records from their merch table and ordered two more the next day from their Big Cartel website. That’s how I roll. Want to hear some of King Buffalo?
