Now That's What I Call a Tour: Vol 1 - The Floozies, Daily Bread b2b Late Night Radio, Canvas, and Gad’m at The Eastern!

The Floozies made their way back to Atlanta to play The Eastern recently on their aptly named Now That’s What I Call a Tour: Vol. 1 with the help of some remarkable and talented friends: Daily Bread b2b Late Night Radio, Canvas, and Gad’m. The Floozies are an electro-funk duo (brothers Matt Hill – producer/guitarist and Mark Hill – drummer) who formed a band back in January 2008. If you have read my column over the years, you know that The Floozies made an appearance back in 2018. This tour stop in Atlanta would be no different especially with this insane line-up and being the first time that they would have played the latest (and greatest) venue in town, The Eastern.

Gad’m kicked off the evening with a DJ set that got the crowd moving to their beats! This Atlanta duo, Sean Treiser and Hayden Holland, came prepared with some of the illest house music with some techno flair sprinkled in for a great time! Gad’m has opened for some of the biggest names in the music business such as Claude VonStroke and Chris Lake. You can check out Gad’m on social media by following them on Facebook and Instagram.

Canvas was next up, and the crowd reacted as if they were the headliner. This quote is taken straight from DJ Canvas’ website: “Gut Music is a feeling, not defined by one style of sound. It touches the mind, body, and soul for a full transformative bass experience.” IYKYK! What can I say, Canvas kicked off her blazing set with DMX’s “X Gon’ Give It to Ya!” before taking us on a sonic journey through their set. This Atlanta native brought a vibe that was deeply rooted in hip-hop but with some bass thrown in for a better bounce. You know, like ‘gut music’. You can check out Canvas on social media by following them on Facebook and Instagram. You can also check out some of the music Canvas has posted by following this link.

The Daily Bread b2b Late Night Radio set was next up! I first had the opportunity to see Daily Bread (A.K.A Rhett Whatley) perform in 2019 when he opened for Cherub on their Baby Angels tour at the Georgia Theatre in Athens, Ga. I was impressed then and I am still impressed now with Daily Bread’s unique ability to craft electro-soul and hip-hop into his DJ set. Daily Bread, an Atlanta native, has been quoted as saying that his “biggest musical inspirations include DJ Premier, Outkast, James Brown, and Menert/Pretty Lights.” Well, if you are talking about R&B, Hip-hop and Jamtronic influences… same, bro. Same. This would be my first time seeing the Colorado native Late Night Radio perform, so seeing his set b2b with Daily Bread was just icing on the proverbial cake. Finally, The Floozies took the stage to an energized crowd that had been warmed up perfectly with the opening acts blazing through their sets. Not one person in The Eastern was standing still for more than a few seconds. Random acts of dancing permeated throughout the venue mixed with smiles and joyous laughter as soon as The Floozies started playing. Hailed as “the undisputed kings of electro funk!” by Adam Deitch (from Lettuce, Break Science, and The Adam Deitch Quartet), this is definitely one of the most accurate descriptions of The Floozies that I have ever read. After witnessing first-hand again how The Floozies throw down, I can safely say unequivocally that this electro-funk duo needs to be in your radar! Want to read more about The Floozies?
